Delhi Metro Commuters stranded after a light tremor

New Delhi: After a light tremor reported about 6.42 in the morning in the national capital, metro services at many stations were stopped and passengers were left stranded on Monday.
Disorders in Metro services produce long queues at various metro stations in Delhi on Monday.
It comes on the day when Metro Delhi allows the Metro train to operate with full capacity starting today.
“The lightweight tremor was confirmed around 6.42 in the morning (today).
As a standard procedure, the train was run at a warning speed and was placed on the next platform.
The service is now running normally,” said Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).

A commuter said, “I have waited here for more than an hour.
When I asked, a guard told me that there were several technical errors on the Metro line.” A large number of commuters was also seen at the Nirman Vihar Metro station in Delhi.
This came a day after the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) allowed Delhi Metro to run 100 percent, with sixteen additional entrance gates from the metro station made operational from Monday.
As per the statement, Delhi Metro Railway Corporation (DMRC) has facilitated passenger entries at all of its stations through 260 gates.
Stations that will have an additional operational gate – Uttam Nagar East, Janakpuri West, Dwarka Mor, Karol Bagh, Vaishali, Noida Sector 18, Naga City Center, Azadpur, GTB Nagar, Govind Puri, Green Park, and MG Road.
In the Town model, Kashmere gate, and central secretariat station, additional gates will only be open to enter.

In the midst of a decrease in Covid-19 cases, Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) in its guidelines allowed Metro Delhi to operate at a capacity of 100 percent.
Even bus plying inside the metropolis, including DTC and bus clusters, has been allowed to run on full capacity.
However, in an official statement, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said that the journey standing inside the Metro was still prohibited according to revised guidelines.
Previously, the Metro and Bus have operated at a capacity of 50 percent.
