New Delhi: Commuting traveling with the Yellow Line Metro Delhi, which connects Delhi North to Gurugram, can now use free high-speed WiFi services at all corridor stations.
Anuj Dayal, Executive Director (Communication Company), Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said the service was launched in all 37 yellow line stations (connecting downtown Huda-Samaypur Badli) from Sunday.
The corridor, the busiest DMRC, mostly run underground through one of the most dense parts of Delhi which includes the outside of Delhi, North Delhi, Central Delhi & South Delhi and finally Gurugram.
“More than 330 access points have been installed in 37 of these stations to provide unbroken internet services to passengers.
This high-speed free wifi service will prove to be a grace for students traveling to and from the Delhi North University campus,” Dayal said.
He added passengers will be able to use standard internet applications such as e-mail, Facebook, Google search, WhatsApp, video calls and audio etc.
By logging into the network ID “OUI DMRC WIFI free”.
To access the service, at first the user must choose “OUI DMRC WiFi free” on their phone, then enter their telephone number and e-mail ID to get OTP via SMS and then enter OTP, after receiving the terms and conditions and finally tap the Connect button.
“OUI DMRC free high-speed WiFi connectivity is available at all blue line stations and airport expressions,” he said further.
The blue line (connecting Dwarka Sector 21 to Noida Electronic City / Vaishali) consists of 50 metro stations, where more than 400 access points are placed by DMRC to provide unbroken internet access.
Airport Express Line (connecting the New Delhi train station to Dwarka Sector 21, connecting Indira Gandhi International Airport) which has six stations, has been given more than 50 access points.
With the launch of the service in the yellow line from Sunday, free WiFi is now available at 94 Metro Delhi Network Stations.
“In addition to providing free WiFi at the metro station on its network, DMRC, in conjunction with Techno Sat Community trying hard to introduce this facility on the Metro train also within one year from here,” Dayal said, adding that improving and installing.
The desired access point is a task that is quite challenging on the operational train.
DMRC has introduced free WiFi services on Airport Express Line trains based on trials, which are suspended due to covid-induced constraints in 2020 and are now in the process of being restored within 10-15 days the next day, the executive director said.
