Delhi: Nhai Tunnel’s plan from Shiv Murti to Vasant Kunj

New Delhi: India National Highways Authority (NHAI) is preparing a plan to build a 4 km tunnel from Shiv Murti to Marg Nelson Mandela in New Delhi, Vasant Kunj to facilitate the traffic movement after the proposal is debated beforehand to build an elevated road cannot be obtained.
.
Getting a ridge permit is also a big obstacle, said the source.
On Thursday, the Minister of Transportation and Union Highway Nitin Gadkari said the proposal to build a tunnel was being prepared and soon he would hold a meeting with concerned agents and make decisions about the project.
The minister said Nhai spent almost RS 55,000 Crore on different road projects in the national capital to reduce congestion and pollution.
The source in Nhai said the tunnel was expected to get two-way from three lines.
“So, it will work as a six lane highway.
We are working on different alternative alternative parties and detailed project reports are being prepared,” said an official.
Toi has learned that project costs for tunnels will be around Rs 2,000 Crore.
The tunnel is being proposed to connect NH8-Dwarka Expressway Junction near Shiv Murti to Marg Nelson Mandela near Vasant to unravel Delhi-Turugram freeway and provide alternative connectivity to Gurugram and IGI Airport from Central and South Delhi.
Because there will be a crossing on Shiv Murti, vehicles that come from Central and South Delhi can also use the tunnel to enter the toll road and also the upcoming Road-II extension, which will provide a direct link to the Delhi-Chandigarh highway.
This will not only reduce congestion on the Gurugram toll road but also on the ring road.
The need for alternative roads to Delhi-Gurugram Expressway, which is now often clogged during rush hour, marked immediately after the toll road was inaugurated.
