Delhi: No Chhath Puja Allowed with Yamuna

New Delhi: The Delhi Government began preparation on Friday because of organizing Puja Chhath throughout the city after Delhi disaster management authorities issued a detailed order to determine the Sun Festival guidelines in the Covid era.
No Chhath Puja will be permitted at Bank Yamuna, only on the site designated by the District Authority in consultation with the Chhath Puja Committee and other stakeholders.
Revenue Minister Kailash Gahlot met with district judges and revenue department officials on Friday and asked them to hold meetings with the Puja Chhath organizing committee to designate sites and provide facilities such as lighting, tents, sites.
Delhi has 1,078 waterbodies identified for Puja Chhath, most of them are artificial ponds in the park and in government and private land.
Some are located on the banks of the Yamuna River.
DDMA orders said Chhath Puja “will only be permitted on the sites appointed outside the detention zone with the required permits from the district judge concerned and subject to the compliance of guidelines and restrictions”.
The prohibition of puja at the Yamuna Bank surprises BJP functionaries.
Manoj Tiwari revealed shocked at the decision.
“This is truly unacceptable,” said Tiwari, urged CM Arvind Kejriwal to take the steps needed to allow Chhath Puja on the Riverside site.
The designated sites will be identified, developed and managed by DMS in coordination with government departments and institutions such as the Board of Jal Delhi, DDA and city companies.
On the designated sites, people can offer or send puja material, which will then be collected by the authority of the citizenship for direct and precise disposal.
DDMA orders also stated that all worshipers would be forbidden to throw pooja materials or other things such as food grains, oil, etc., into Yamuna and will hold the district DCPS responsible for violations.
DDMA has emphasized strict measures to ensure prevention and control of pollution in Yamuna and the flooded plains.
The organizer of the Puja Chhath has been asked to propose a business to each DM in connection with pollution norms and guidelines related to other pandemics.
Authorities have been asked to ensure strict compliance with Covid behavior such as wearing masks, social distance maintenance, hand washing and the use of sanitisers on the site.
DDMA has asked the district authorities to hold meetings with religious and community leaders, the Puja Chhath Committee and other stakeholders to warn them about guidelines so that they can, in their part, more sensitive to the norms of Covid and.

Kamal Bansal, Chairman of the Tirth Government of Delhi Yatra Vikas Samiti, said that the majority of Ghats Chhathat will be located in the park and in government and private land.
