New Delhi: In the midst of a surge in the case of dengue fever in the national capital, the Chairman of the Minister of Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday claimed that Delhi is now “close to winning the battle” against the disease borne by vectors.
He encouraged all city residents to actively participate in the ’10 hafte campaign, 10 baje, 10 minutes on Sunday to fight bloody fever.

The minister’s chairman’s statement came in the midst of a surge in dengue fever cases in the past two weeks, and the first death was reported on Monday.
According to the civil report on the disease transmitted through a vector released on Monday, one death because of dengue fever, and a total of 723 cases of dengue have been recorded this season until October 16, which is the highest number of cases since 2018 for the same period.
Of the total number of dengue fever cases recorded in Delhi this year, 382 has been reported this month until October 16, which amounted to almost 52 percent of cumulative cases.
Kejriwal said that like last year, this time the Delhi government runs the anti-dengue campaign ’10 hafte, 10 baje, 10 minutes.
All ministers, MLA and Delhi government officers also took part in the campaign, and cleaned water that accumulated in their homes every Sunday, he added.

The maximum number of bloody fever cases are reported every year between September 1 and November 15, said the minister’s chairman.
Dengue mosquitoes are only breeded in clear water.
The mosquito put the larvae in clear water, which turned into a mosquito in 8-10 days.
If the water changes before eight days, and larvae are removed, then mosquitoes will not be produced, he added.
A total of 1,072 cases and one death were recorded in full year in 2020.
In 2015, the city had witnessed a large outbreak with dengue fever, when the number of dengue cases reported had passed 10,600 in October itself, making it the worst outbreak of diseases transmitted through vectors in the national capital since 1996.
