New Delhi: The Delhi government will come with a support center for migrant workers in various parts of the city.
The centers will serve those who work in an unorganized sector as a one-stop destination for documents such as Aadhaar, ration card and voter ID and for access to different welfare schemes.
The first migrant worker support center will appear on the site available at the commissioner’s office with a shared manufacturer at Vishwakarma Nagar in the East Delhi Jhmil colony.
“Two other centers will be established at the Office of the Delhi Government Labor Department in South Delhi and Karmpura West Kalkaji Western Delhi,” said a government official.
The official added, “These centers aim to help workers nearly 52.5 lakh employed in an unorganized sector that does not have a giving fund account or not covered by an employee insurance company.
In the middle, they will be assisted in obtaining documents – Important documents such as aadhaar cards, ration cards, voter ID cards, etc.
This center will be a one-stop solution, which means these people do not need to visit these important offices to get these important documents to get important documents This is to get these important documents made.
” In these centers, migrant workers will be registered and provide assistance in obtaining important government documents needed to access government welfare schemes.
At present, 7.7 lakh buildings and construction workers are registered with the Delhi government and 31 lakh workers who are employed in an unmaved sector are listed under the E-Shram portal.
Apart from getting documents made, migrant workers will also receive assistance in utilizing benefits under different schemes run by the Delhi government social welfare department for them.
The center proposed at Jhilmil Colony will be spread at 280 square meters and will have a registration room measuring more than 157 square meters, regardless of the room for officials and conference rooms.
The center is estimated to cost almost Rs 1.9 Crore to regulate, including around Rs 1.5 Crore for civil works and around Rs 40 Lakh for electrical installations.
This project is expected to be completed within 270 days, or about nine months, from during a job.
The government plans a central structure for low maintenance and has lower energy consumption, along with wastewater recycling, water conservation and rainwater harvesting systems in place.
Other ‘green buildings’ norms will also be obeyed.
Construction technology that will be used must allow repetition and ensure convenience in construction.
There are also plans to develop environments with original vegetation and plantations.
To help construction workers in receiving the benefits of the government scheme, the Delhi government has also launched a ‘Shramik partner’ scheme.
As part of the scheme, trained Mitras Shramik will visit workers’ homes and help them apply for a different assistance scheme from the state government.
To help construction workers whose livelihoods have been influenced by a pandemic and also with the closure of construction activities due to air pollution, the Delhi government has twice provided financial assistance of Rs 5,000 to every worker registered with the construction council.
As many as RS 350 Crore has been disbursed under the scheme until November 2021.
