New Delhi: After crossing the 7,000 MW mark on Thursday, Delhi recorded a peak power request of 7,323mW on Friday, the highest this year and very close to the high-time 7,409mw high time was recorded on the same day two years ago.

Power Minister Jain also tweeted, “Delhi managed to meet the highest demand for electricity from 7,323mW today.
Congratulations to the Delhi power sector for this achievement (SIC).” On Thursday, demand for peaks touched 7.026MW, crossing a sign of 7,000 MW for the first time in two years.
While Delhi received a very much needed rain at night on Friday, the weather was mostly hot and humid in June, coupled with gradual opening, resulting in Delhi’s peak power request that crossed a 6,000 MW mark on June 9 at 6,185MW.
The next day, it was 6.499mW, which was not only the highest season until then but also above last year’s peak of 6.314MW.
In 2020, the demand for peak power passed 6,000 MW on June 18.
The last four days have seen the record of the season and last year defeated consistently, starting with the demand for the peak of 6.592mW on Tuesday, followed by Wednesday and 7,026 MW on Thursday.
Officials said Delhi’s peak demand is expected to reach 7,400mW, despite the original estimation of around 7,900mW.
This summer, the peak request has crossed the peak last year 6.314mW on seven occasions – 23-24 June 28-30 and 1-2.
Because of last year’s lock, Delhi’s peak power demand was recorded at 6.314mW on June 29, which was much lower than the demand for peak power in the previous year.
This season, Delhi’s peak power request across 5,000 MW for the first time on June 7, at 5.559mW at 11:19 a.m.
From touching 4.614mW on June 1, Delhi’s peak power demand has increased by almost 59% on Friday.
This is only the third year in the history of Delhi’s strength since 1905 that peak power demand has crossed 7,000 MW.
In 2018, Peak requests have crossed a 7,000 MW mark for the first time, Clocking 7,016 MW on July 10, and the following year seeing the demand for high peak power of Delhi at 7,409mW on 2.
Last winter, too, has seen more requests power than the previous winter.
When the capital faces cold wave conditions in January, electricity demand also rose and at 23 days that month, demand for peak power was higher than the appropriate days in January 2020.
