New Delhi: LG Anil Baijal has extended the strength under the National Security Act (NSA) to the Commissioner of Police Delhi, appointing him as the authority of detention until October 18, 2021.
NSA allows the preventive detention of an individual if the authorities feel that individuals are a threat to state law and order , Notification came before independence day and when farmers protested three central agriculture laws in Jantar Mantar.
While the police ended the order as “regular and routine” without connection with farmer protests, sources considering that similar orders were issued in January 2020 at the time of anti-CAA protest.
