Delhi: Politics heat up when Chhath Puja starts

New Delhi: Politics over Chhath Puja continues because the four-day festival starts on Monday.
BJP MP Parvesh Sahib Singh opposes the prohibition of Delhi disaster management authorities by regulating rituals on the banks of the Yamuna River near Ito, while fellow Members of Parliament Manoj Tiwari took a boat ride in the water covered with foam and blamed the AAP government for river toxicity.
TimesViews is unfortunate that both Chhath Puja and pollution are being politicized.
COVID-19 case is currently low in the city.
But restraints and self-denial remains the key to keeping it under control.
Singh led a group of Purvanchali worshipers in rituals on Monday morning and vowed to make the Chhath site in Riverbank to celebrate the Sun Festival on November 10-11.
Some people look swimming in foam-covered rivers.
Hitting on the Head of Minister of Arvind Kejriwal, Singh said, “The AAP government has power over the sounds of the Purvanchali community and now cm does not allow them to celebrate a godly festival.” DDMA has allowed the celebration of Puja Chhath in public places across the capital but forbade worshipers to do puja in Yamuna Bank because of pollution problems.
BJP and AAP officials argue that Chhath Puja does not cause water pollution, with his worshipers, not cleanse the banks of the river while preparing for the festival.
Tiwari said he took a boat near Kalindi Kunj to highlight how pollution was Yamuna.
Then Tiwari went to Sonia Vihar, standing far in the river and stating that the river was clean and free of poisonous foam.
“This makes the AAP government exposed,” said Tiwari, adding that the Delhi government was not disturbed by toxicity and pollution in the river.
“The Supreme Court must take Suo-Motu’s awareness about this issue,” BJP officials said.
MP claims that the Delhi government not only prohibits the worshipers of Chhath from worship on the banks of the Yamuna River, but the state government also always makes false claims about cleaning the river.
Many worshipers oppose DDMA guidelines for swimming in polluted rivers near Kalindi Kunj.
Delhi Jal Board Deputy Chairman of Raghav Chadha accused that while the Delhi government did everything that could keep Yamuna clean, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana collectively released around 150 million gallons per day waste water that was not treated into the river.
