New Delhi: Hundreds of nurses staff in various state-run hospitals on Monday wore black ribbons to register their protests about “delayed” Ex Gratia from the Delhi government for eight of their colleagues.
Nurse staff at Lok Nayak Hospital, GTB and DDU, and other Delhi government running facilities took part in “peaceful protest” to file a claim, said Liladhar Ramchandani, Secretary General of the Federation of Delhi Nurses (DNF).
“It has been a year since the Delhi government announces that every doctor, nurses, paramedical staff, sanitary workers and other people who die are in line with Covid’s duties, their relatives will get compensation for Rs 1 Crore.
Eight nursing officers have died, but ex Gratia is still delayed,” he added .
There is no direct response from the government.
Look-over the past two years, lakh health workers nationally have fought against the feared virus.
The amount of compensation must be immediately released to ensure that their morals do not attack it also register their names and hospitals.
While four of them were employed at the LNJP hospital, each of each worked in DDU, GB Pant and GTB Hospitals, and one with CDMO, Delhi health services.
Ramchandani said the protest would continue on Tuesday.
If the request is not fulfilled, all nursing officers will come out for two hours from January 27, but it will not affect patient care, he added.
