New Delhi: The Forestry Department has imposed a fine of RS 38.7 lakh at the Public Works Department (PWD) to concretize 387 trees in Vasant Vihar.
Peary Officer, who conducted a trial in this matter, observed that PWD did not remove trees even after being given many opportunities.
“In accordance with the latest Forestry Department survey in January 2022, there were 387 trees in the Vasant Vihar PWD area which was still converted.
Therefore, the total fine of RS 38.7 lakh (each of Rs 10,000 for 387 trees) was imposed on the PWD civil division for freezing Trees in the area under the jurisdiction, “said a tree officer in order.
Observed on November 30 and December 8 last year, PWD officials said the de-concaveization work would be completed within 15 days of the construction ban raised.
However, the job was not finished.
“Vide the high court of his order on December 12, 2021 has directed them to submit compliance before tree officials on January 5, 2022.
However, PWD did not submit it.
Requested twice again but did not send a report,” command command.
SDMC told the Ministry of Forestry which according to the survey, there were 3,909 trees under his territory in Vasant Vihar.
Based on the direction of Delhi HC, tree officers have carried out trials about concretizing trees in Vasant Vihar.
A survey by locals has stated that a total of 4,993 trees in the area, 3,859 are very concentrated.
A petition was then submitted in the High Court.
“Construction structures that are cemented or concretization work along the trees destroyed them permanently and are violations,” said a forest official.
In other issues, the Ministry of Forestry also imposed a PWD fine to damage the tree during the excavation work at Bipin Chandra Pal Mag in CR Park.
“We have imposed a fine fine but because we have received new complaints that more trees have been damaged, we will do site inspection again.
Smooth amount can increase,” said an official.
When contacted, PWD officials did not comment on this problem.
