New Delhi: When heavy rains pounding the national capital, Delhi recorded the highest rainfall since 1964, with 1,159.4 mm until Thursday afternoon.
Delhi September rainfall has violated a 400 mm mark, the Indian Meteorology Department (IMD) revealed.
At 403 mm to Thursday afternoon, it was maximum rainfall which was recorded this month since 417.3 mm in September 1944.
To include everything into perspective, Delhi has received 404 mm rainfall throughout the 2019 rainy season period.
That number is still evolved because more rainfall predicted in the city for a month.
Experts say that it is on the path to be the wetest summer in Delhi at that time interesting.
Usually, Delhi records 653.6 mm rainfall during the rainy season.
Last year, the capital measured the precipitation of 648.9 mm.
Between June 1, when the rainy season began in the country, and September 15, the city usually gets 614.3 mm rainfall.
This monsoon withdrew from Delhi on September 25.
According to IMD, Safdarjung’s observation, which is considered an official marker for the city, has received 1159.4 mm rainfall this season until Thursday afternoon.
It had explored 1.155.6 mm rainfall in 1975 and 1190.9mm in 1964.
The record of all time was 1,420.3 mm of rainfall in 1933.
Previously, the weather department issued an orange warning for moderate rain in Delhi during the day.
Rain is light likely on Friday.
Mahesh Palawat, Vice President, Skymet Weather, Private Forecasting Agent, said: “Rain fell will continue until September 23-24 because of the expected delay from the rainy season.” “This means Delhi can record the second monsun terrace at that time interesting,” he said.
It’s only the third time in the past two decades that Monsun’s rainfall in Delhi violated a 1,000 mm mark.
The city has recorded 1,031.5 mm rainfall in the rainy season in 2010.
In 2003, the capital had measured 1,050 mm from it.
Delhi received 636 mm, 544 mm, 876 mm, 370.8 mm and 505.5 mm during the rainy season in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015.

The capital recorded three heavy rain spells in July – 69.6mm on July 19, 100 mm on July 27, and 72 mm on July 30.
While one such episode occurred last month – 138.8 mm rainfall on August 21, Delhi had witnessed three events like that this month – 112.1mm on September 1, 117.7 mm on September 2, and 94.7 mm on September 11 (Saturday).
Capital has recorded a new weather record every month since August last year.
