Delhi recording 33 dengue cases in 2022 so far, 10 in February

New Delhi: At least 33 cases of dengue fever have been reported in the national capital this year, according to civilian reports released on Monday.
Ten new cases have been reported in February in the past week.
For the period 1 February-5 January, one case was recorded in the previous year while two cases were recorded in 2020 and one in 2019, according to the report.
Cases of diseases transmitted through vectors are usually reported between July and November, but the period can stretch until mid-December.
Last year, 9,613 dengue cases, the highest number of cases of diseases borne by vectors was recorded in the national capital in a year since 2015, and 23 deaths were reported.
According to the Civic report on the disease transmitted through a vector released on Monday, a total of 33 dengue cases have been recorded this year until February 5, with 10 new cases added in the past week.
In the years before 2021, the total dengue case reported was– 4.431 (2016), 4,726 (2017), 2,798 (2018), 2,036 (2019) and 1,072 (2020), according to the report.
In 2015, the city had witnessed a large-scale fever outbreak, when the number of Dengue reported cases had passed 10,600 in October itself, making it the worst outbreak of a disease borne by a vector in the national capital since 1996.
The number of fatalities of the dengue fever in 2021 was the highest in the national capital since 2016, when the official death count was officially 10.
Delhi has recorded two deaths due to dengue fever in 2019, four in 2018, and 10 each in 2017 and 2016.
According to the Sivic report released on the day Monday, there were no cases of malaria and chikungunya have been reported so far this year.
