New Delhi: The city records the lowest minimum temperature of the season at 9.6 degrees Celsius, three degrees below normal, at Safdarjung base station on Wednesday.
The night temperature fell below 10 degrees Celsius in three other stations as well – ayanagar (9.1 degrees Celsius), Lodhi Road (9.8) and Mungeshpur (9.4).
An official meeting said that because the wind direction is predicted to change to be east, the minimum temperature is likely to increase marine for the next three days.
However, the condition of the isolated cold wave was seen in Delhi on Wednesday as a cold wave reported in ayanaagar, where night temperatures dipped five degrees below normal.
According to the Indian Meteorology Department (IMD), the criteria for cold waves are that the minimum temperature must be 4 or more degrees below normal or when a minimum temperature is less than 4 degrees Celsius.
The IMD data shows that the lowest minimum temperature recorded in November last year was 6.3 degrees Celsius.
In 2019, the lowest minimum temperature was reported on November 20 at 11.4 degrees Celsius.
The IMD estimate says the minimum temperature is likely to drift around 11-12 degrees Celsius for the next few days.
RK Jenamani, senior scientist at the IMD, said, “Western disruption is likely to affect Jammu and Kashmir on November 19-20 and under its influence, the east wind is expected to emerge, causing a minimum temperature increase.
Because the rain is partly expected to be more than Rajasthan, it is likely to be Causing turbidity above Delhi on November 19 Night.
The east wind is expected to increase moisture.
“Even though the east or east winds blew for several hours during the day, meeting officials said that more East winds were consolidated expected above the city on November 19.
“Because the north wind will return on November 21, the minimum temperature can return to dip,” said Jenamani.
He added that when strong winds were relatively possible on November 21, it would help clean the air Delhi, causing dispersion of pollutants.
According to IMD, visibility increased on Wednesday because it was in the range of 1,500-2,100 meters in Safdarjung and Palam, while it was below 1,200 meters two days ago.
Mahesh Palawat Weather Skymet, a personal weather forecasting agent, said, “The night temperature was dipped on Wednesday because of the north wind, which was cold and dry, while the east wind was warm and humid.”
