New Delhi: The court freed a man in the case of the Northeast Delhi riot, said there were no public witnesses / witnesses who identified allegations as rioters or members of the assembly who violated the law.
Additional session Judge Virender Bhat said the deposition of two police witnesses would show that Rohit was just an observer, and not among the rioters.
“The prosecution has failed to produce evidence to prove the accusation of the defendant.
His right, the defendant was released from all charges,” the court said on January 15.
He noted that in a cross examination, the two witnesses had overthrown the defendant standing 10 meters from them in Gokalpuri during Riot in February 2020.
On this basis, the Special Public Prosecutor who was defendant had been seen among the rioters near the Jannati Mosque and, therefore , responsible for being punished under the IPC 149, although there were no witnesses who saw him destroy, robbery, etc.
The judge showed, adding that “I did not find any strength in delivery”.
The court observed, “Whether …
has been overthrown in the main examination that they have identified one of the riots, not to talk about accused of Rohit.”
