Delhi: Sarojini Market Staff get ID cards to check the crowd

New Delhi: To limit illegal vendors and decongest Sarojini Nagar, market associations, following the regional administrative directives on Friday, began distributing identity cards to shop owners and employees.
“We have issued IDS for most staff and tend to complete the process in the middle of next week.
We send a list of ID cards that have been issued to the HR office.
In some cases, the market association has attached a copy of the Aadhaar card as proof of identity.
We have asked employees to Wearing it or at least bring them when it comes to the market, “said Ashok Kalra, Secretary General, Sarojini Nagar Market Association (Large Stores).
A senior government official said, as soon as the market association completed the process and return, Delhi police would deploy staff at the market entries to check identity cards.
“If someone has managed to enter a pose as a customer and then shows a kiosk, our civil defense volunteers can question them and Delhi police can immediately submit FIR,” the official said.
“We have a decent number of civil defense volunteers involved in the market for Challan’s violators.
Their numbers will increase after the plan is implemented,” officially added.
Toi visited the market on Friday and found several shop owners wearing ID cards, while the crowd was relatively lacking at night.
The district government has also asked the shopkeeper to limit the number of staff in each store, depending on the availability of space.
“For small shops, as there is a mini market, two staff and a shopkeeper, while in the larger, like the main market, four staff and shop owners will be permitted.
Those who have additional staff have been asked to call them on Alternative days, “said Ashok Randhawa, President, Association of Mini Market Traders.
Previously, noted an increase in congestion in the market and violations of the appropriate Covid behavior, the district administration had issued orders to close the export market (200 shops behind the main market) from 18-20 July.
Not happy with the decision and failed to get help even though there was a meeting with officials for two days, traders from all Sarojini Nagar even made their shops closed for a day.
