New Delhi: The South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has allocated RS 41.60 lakh to provide various facilities at City’s Chhath Ghats, according to a statement issued on Saturday.
The Mayor of SDMC Mukesh Suryan said the Civic’s body had made all the settings needed at Chhath Ghats in his area.
To provide various facilities at Ghats during the Puja Chhath in all 104 wards, the Civic Agency has made the budget allocation of Rs 41.60 Lakh, he said.
To add street lights and the way to approach Ghats, to ensure the sanitation and cleanliness right next to other facilities, RS 40,000 has been allocated for two Ghats in every SDMC ward, he said.
The mayor said funds would help in improving facilities for worshipers in Chhath Ghats.
To facilitate worshipers, the cubicle will also be established on this Ghats, he added.
Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) on Friday allows the celebration of the Puja Chhath on the sites appointed in the city except Yamuna River Banks.
Chhath, celebrated after being diwali by people who belong to Bihar and Timur Uttar Pradesh, involve an ‘arghya’ offer by fasting women to the god of the sun on the water.
He said The Chhath Festival had special interests in Delhi’s religious and cultural activities.
“People celebrate this festival with togetherness and look for blessings.
It is our responsibility to make all arrangements on Ghats to facilitate worshipers.
SDMC makes all possible settings, keeping with Covid norms, to make a successful event festival,” Suryan said.
