Delhi: Skywalk to Metro Stns to free the ajmeri gate side

New Delhi: Very soon, special skywalk will connect the New Delhi train station not only with the Yellow Line Metro station, but also Express Line airport stations, parking areas and buses and auto bays.
Work at Skywalk, built by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) in collaboration with the North Railway, is almost over and will be disposed of for general immediately, Anuj Dayal said, the company’s communication executive director in DMRC.
“This skywalk is an extension of the overbridge of the foot inside the train station and connects the side of the ajmeri gate with a new Yellow Line Delhi station and the airport lane, including the multilevel parking side across Marg Bhavbhuti through some point out,” Dayal said.
The work was questioned by the Managing Director of DMRC Mangu Singh on Thursday.
Dayal said that in addition to providing unlimited connectivity, Skywalk will also help streamline the flow of traffic on the side of the ajmeri gate.
Skywalk has been equipped with six escalators along with facilities such as CCTV, toilet and ticket countdown cameras and signage.
Dayal said Skywalk had an integrated escalator and the stairs reminiscent of Mantar.
Dayal said the construction was the main technical challenge, including the interference caused by Covid-19.
The structure must be built on a functional underground metro station only 3 meters below with the main traffic movement on Bhavbhuti Marg.
“Also, the bridge must be connected with two existing building structures at the end, ensuring the minimum discomfort to people,” he added.
