New Delhi: New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has decided to install sculpture-based themes in 12 leading places or roundabouts gradually under ‘special art projects’ in an effort to promote art and culture in the region.
Deputy Chairperson of the NDMC Satish Upadhyay informed that the project had been taken by the council in relation to Sahitya when Parishad.
“In the camp, 12 craftsmen will engrave 12 black marble statues.
This will be displayed in various locations and roundabouts to increase their aesthetics.
This project was taken to mark 75 years of independence and celebrate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav,” said Upadhyay.
Statues as high as six to eight feet will be made by famous craftsmen.
“This will be based on different culture of India, inheritance, and subjects to show off india progressive and noble history of its people, culture and work achievement.
Besides promoting art, this initiative will also help in the landscape of the site with heavy footsteps,” said Upadhyay .
He added that Sahitya when Parishad would not only arrange statue artists for camps, but also contributed to the procurement of stones and tools, payments to curators, coordinators, etc.
