New Delhi: With the aim of spreading awareness and motivating people to separate waste in the source, The North Delhi Municipal Corporation plans to introduce the concept of “Swachhta Mitras”.
The pilot project will begin with the Keshavpuram zone, where the welfare organization of the population will be asked to identify someone from within to be chosen as “Swachhta Mitra”.
Swachhta Partners will work with the authorities to spread the news about the right sanitation and waste disposal.
“Through this scheme, we plan to involve the masses in the separation of waste at the source,” said Yogesh Verma, chairman of the Keshavpuram zone.
The Sanitary Area Inspector is also asked to identify areas that can wisely separate waste, so that corporations can respect their efforts.
“Groups of citizens and individuals will be borne as part of the scheme.
We will choose Swachhta Mitras and, then, respect them by providing a certificate.
We will also paint inspirational messages on the wall,” Verma said.
While the North and East corporation decided to collect only separate waste from November 1, only a few areas that truly adhere to the rules.
