Delhi: The 2nd Phase ‘Red Light Light, Gadi Off Starts

New Delhi: To reduce vehicle pollution in the national capital, the Delhi government on Friday began the second phase of the ‘Red Light On, Gadi Off’ campaign in the city.
Minister of Environment Delhi Gopal Rai on Friday visited Ito to cross and appeal to the public to expand their support to make the struggle for pollution.
This campaign began on October 18 and ended on November 18 but saw the surge in the pollution level the government had decided to start the second phase of the campaign from Friday.
Rai said that various studies have shown that nearly 30 percent of pollution in Delhi is caused by its internal sources where vehicle emissions are the main contributors.
He said that every day someone with an average of burning fuel for 20-25 minutes at the intersection of traffic all day.
This is a waste and also the main source of pollution.
“The main purpose of ‘the red light is on, the Gadi Off campaign is to reduce vehicle pollution in the city.
We have now decided to extend this campaign for 15 days from today and continue until December 3,” Rai told reporters in Ito Crossing.
He asked the public to actively participate in the campaign and fight pollution.
Rai said that the Delhi government had taken all the necessary steps to control pollution in the city.
These steps include a ban on the entry of trucks, except for those who carry important items; 100 percent work from home to all government employees, among others.
Responding to the transfer of the central government to revoke controversial three agricultural laws, Rai said that it was the victory of farmers and their movements.
“This is a big victory of the farmer’s movement.
The central government has not only officially retrieved this law in the next parliamentary session but also made the law on the MSP (minimum support price) for the benefits of farmers,” Rai said.
