New Delhi: With the increase in cyber crime in the city, Delhi police will establish a ‘cyber police station’ who is dedicated in each district to handle such cases effectively in the national capital.
The Department of Delhi’s house house has issued a notification to establish such facilities in 15 police regencies.
According to officials, the police station tends to start functioning from December 1.
Notifications say it is necessary to form a “Cyber Police Station” in each police district who was told to ask and investigate cases related to Cybercrime.
“Lieutenant Governor of the National Capital City Delhi, to facilitate a better extension of police assistance to the public, with this, happy to direct and state that virtual world police station in the East, Northeast, South, Southwest, Outer, Central, North , Northwest, Shahdara, Rohini, New Delhi, Dwarka and Outer North will be a cyber police station in every fifteen police district who are told in Delhi from the date of issuance of this notification, “he said.
The cyber police station will function from the location as described in schedule – A or in other places / places where the office shifts in the future from the date of issuance of this notification.
Cyber police stations must have jurisdiction in all police districts where the cyber police station is told and effectively from the date of issuance of this notification, he said.
According to the schedule-a, the cyber police station in the Eastern District will be located at the Pandagav Nagar police station and in the northeastern district, will be located at the Jyoti Nagar police station.
Likewise, in the southern district, the location will be at the Saket police station, at the Badarpur police station in the southeast, at the Vasant Vihar police station in the southwest, at the Nagar Day police station in the West and at the Paschim Vihar police station in the Outer District, he said.
Cyber police station in Central, North, Northwest, Shahdara, Rohini, New Delhi, Dwarka District and North Extraordor will be located in Kamla Market, Maurice Nagar, Mukherjee Nagar, Shahdara, Budh Vihar, Mandir Marg, Dwarka North and Samaypur Badli / Samaypur / police station Bawana respectively, the notice said.
Delhi police have a separate unit called the Cyber Preventation (Cypad) Awareness Detection Unit for Cybercrime which functions under special cells.
Every district also has certain cyber cells.
The Cypad has been renamed Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO).
Officials said the cyber police station will immediately report to the deputy commissioner of the district police.
The police station will work in coordination with the IFSO unit from Delhi police.
During the annual press conference in February, Delhi police have published data that shows that from March to May 2020, when the limitations have occurred because of the outbreak of Covid-19, there is an increase in cyber cases.
It rises from around 2,000 cases like that in March to more than 4,000 in May.
