New Delhi: The Covid-19 case daily dipped sharply in Delhi and Mumbai on Friday but it was not clear whether the decline was due to falling infection or a decrease seen in testing in two cities today during waves.
India recorded a marginal increase in cases with only below 2.70 lakh infections detected on Friday compared to 2.64 lakh the day before.
Testing throughout the country was too down to 17.87 lakh, down from 18.86 lakh the previous day.
Delhi reported 24,383 new cases on Friday, fell from the highest of 28.867 the previous day.
In Mumbai, the case fell for the second day of running, with 11,317 new infections appeared on Friday, swimming by 17% of Thursday.
Both cities saw many much lower Covid tests carried out on Thursday compared to the peak in the last eight days.
However, there are important differences in Covid data from two cities.
While the level of Ruling Test (TPR – The percentage of positive tests for Covid) generally decreases in Mumbai, consistently increasing in the national capital.
The highest TPR Mumbai (in the last eight days) was 28.
95% recorded on January 7, which has fallen to 20.
6% on Friday.
Delhi, on the other hand, returned TPR 30.
64% on Friday, the highest in recent months in the capital.
The case count on Friday in Delhi came out of 79,578 tests, the second lowest in the last eight days.
In Mumbai, 54,924 tests were recorded, the lowest in the last eight days.
Data shows that the increase in the number of tests will lead to higher case detection in both cities.
But the decrease in TPR shows that Mumbai might have reached its peak in the meaningless infection does not seem to happen to Delhi.
In the national capital, almost every third sample was tested positive for viral infections on Friday and daily consistently increased from 17.
73% on 7 to 30 January.
64% Meanwhile, both cities saw a relatively high number of deaths on Friday although the amount was still far less than those who were in the second wave of pandemic.
On 34 deaths, Delhi victims on Friday were the highest among all countries.
Mumbai reported nine deaths, the highest daily victims in the city in five months.
The country reported 217 deaths from the virus in Frid Ay, the third day in a row of 200 deaths.
