New Delhi: Delhi is ready to get his first-air-conditioned electric bus batch with three bus prototypes that join the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) fleet.
This prototype prototype is part of a 300 low floor bus approved by the Delhi cabinet in March.
“300 moving buses are from two different bus manufacturers and three prototypes of this will arrive this week.
After the inspection and approval needed, this will be deployed for the trial,” said an official who did not want to be identified.
“Buses and drivers will be provided by private entities and the DTC will operate this on the route and spread the conductor.
The remaining 297 electric buses will arrive in different batches and have a separate color scheme,” he said.
Electric buses must be parked in depots in Rohini, Subhash Place, Mayapuri, Rajghat and Mundela Kalan.
Two bus depots in Rohini and those in Mundela are ready and have been provided with power connectivity through transformers for charging buses.
According to the schedule, 118 buses will arrive in October, 100 in November and 60 buses in December 2021.
The remaining 20 buses are scheduled to arrive on January 202.
But the second wave of the Covid-19 case, influenced labor.
Electric buses and creating supporting infrastructure such as charging stations on the designated bus depot.
Private entities, which will maintain the e-bus, will be paid operating costs per kilometer under the ‘operational load’ model.
Bus depots with most primary infrastructure and power connectivity have been made separately for electric buses and will be submitted to private entities, which will bring the necessary equipment.
Battery replacement will be a private entity obligation, which is generally done after 5 years, and the cost of electricity consumption will be borne by DTC.
While the Delhi government plans to induce a total of 1,000 e-buses under the cluster scheme too, the DTC Board approved the induction of 1,015 electric buses and 230 buses managed by the financial year of 2021-22 in a recent meeting chaired by the Minister of Transportation Delhi Kailash Gahlot, who is also the DTC chairman.
The Delhi government plans to finally replace all CNG-Run buses in the National Capital public transport fleet with electric buses as part of a cleaner fuel shift.
