New Delhi: To pay respect for freedom and instill patriotism among Delhi’s population, the AAP government on Thursday installed 115 foot-high tricolors in 75 locations in the national capital.
After lifting one flag like it in Timarpur near Delhi University, Chairman of the Minister of Arvind Kejriwal said the Delhies had to see at least two – three national flags around them every time they left the house.
The government plans to install the flag in 500 locations throughout the city.
Five flags were included on August 15 last year.
According to officials, AIIMS Roundabout, Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium near Ito, Satrist Bridge, Akshardham Temple, Dwarka Court, City Model Metro Station, Shaheed Sukhdev College from Business Studies, Rohini, Rajaghat, Vihar Phase II and the Apsara Border are several locations on where tricolor is installed.
In August 2021, the flag was installed in Kidwai East Nagar, Patparigaj, Shakur Basti, Kalkaji and Dwarka.
“Seeing Tiranga flying high with pride in including a stronger Dishbhakti sense of everyone.
Delhi is probably the only city in the world that has put up the country’s national flag on a large scale.
We are checking our achievements, hopefully we have secured notes in Guinness World Records, “Kejriwal said.
The government wants to install all 500 flags in January 2022, but the process is delayed due to restrictions on construction activities because of the high level of pollution and then a surge in Covid-19 cases, he added.
Minister PWD Satyendar Jain said most of the flag had been installed on the road under the jurisdiction of the department.
“We identified 75 locations at the main intersection, at school and on the main road to ensure that every Delhi population found many of these proud monuments in their neighborhood or when traveling even within 2 km,” he said.
“Tiranga is a constant reminder of the union in our diversity.
It should be and will be respected.” Jain shows that the department has followed the 2002 flag code of India when installing a flag.
Adequate lighting has been given a priority and every foundation has been painted in red and white, he added.
When presenting the Dishbhakti budget of RS 69,000 Crore for Fiscal 2021-22, the government decided to install the flag to commemorate the 75th anniversary of independence.
