New Delhi: A 25-year-old woman, who was deployed as a marshal on the DTC bus, was killed after allegedly hit by a truck while crossing the road in South Delhi on Saturday, police said.
The incident occurred at Pushp Vihar near the Madangir Bus Stand, they said.
Anita is a resident of Magangir here and works as a Marshal Bus Transport Corporation Delhi, they said.
The truck driver was arrested in place.
The defendant was under the influence of alcohol, police said.
According to the police, the accident occurred when Anita returned home after his assignment.
He got off the bus at Khanpur T-Point around 2pm.
He crossed the road and headed for Magangir when he was allegedly hit by a truck.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Atul Kumar Thakur said, “We got information about the accident at Pushp Vihar.
At that time we found that the woman was destroyed by the truck and declared dead in the hospital.” However, the truck driver, identified as Jamirulla, has been arrested in that place, he said.
Jamirulla is a resident of Soniya Vihar, he added.
