NEW DELHI: The south and north east companies have ready a record of 175 regions exposed to mosquito-borne diseases like dengue and chikungunya.
A great number of those localities overlap with water-stressed areas where jerry cans and drums are utilised to save water, civil officials say.
These containers act as breeding sites for the two Anopheles and Aedes mosquitoes.
An investigation of mosquito breeding information in three civic figures indicates that at 38 percent, peri-domestic containers including vases, flower, cash plant and plant baskets, tins, tyres, fountains — accounts for the biggest chunk of mosquito breeding sites.
The report also shows that national storage containers — drums, bucket, jerry cans — come next at 33 percent.
Desert coolers — that find significant use in Delhi from the summer — and even overhead tanks come fourth and third.
A senior officer of the general health division mentioned the participation of each group stored on varying throughout the year with national water container and desert coolers being the biggest contributors in the summertime.
North company mayor Jai Prakash stated a listing of dengue-vulnerable regions in all six zones were ready to chalk out the plan for anti-mosquito steps.
“National breeding checkers will go to all homes in these regions to test water containers such as mosquito breeding and utilize temphos along with larvicides in warm water heaters,” he explained, adding that from the 123 places, 80 percent are in territorial colonies with inadequate water source.
In the same way, South Delhi Municipal Corporation has prepared a listing of 52 places, largely from unauthorised colonies.
“Folks here procure water from private providers or warm water tankers.
The drums used to keep water turned into a hotspot for mosquito breeding,” an official said.
