New Delhi: Compared to last year, Delhi saw an increase in the case of child abuse registered under the protection of children from sexual violations (Pocso) acting in 2021.
Delhi police data were accessed by Aihowed that up to November 11, more than 1,000 cases were registered at The police station opposite the city compared to around 850 years ago.
The law enforcement body solves more than 990 cases and captures more than 1,100 accused.
Last year, 95% of cases were resolved.
A senior officer said last year, because of the kuncian, parents stayed at home with their children because they were constantly watched and taken care of.
“We found that most of the defendants were known by the victims,” the officer added.
Other officers said Elopement was the main reason behind the crime.
“We found that girls come into contact with someone through chat or phone calls.
They then began to meet and with the pretext of love or marriage they married.
When the victims were saved, they claimed that they were sexually misused,” the officer said.
In October, a 15-year-old girl was kidnapped from Delhi and sold to get married in Rajasthan saved by the police.
The girl was captivated by a man who lived in his neighborhood, was taken to Agra with the pretext of visiting fair and then sold to get married.
He allegedly attacked sexually.
Members of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) said children from the background were economically vulnerable to abuse.
“We have observed that to get money, laborers left their children at home and went to work.
These children become vulnerable because anyone can crime with them,” added members.
The source said 145 Pocso cases were registered in Southeast Regency and more than 90% were resolved.
Dwarka district reported 120 cases and completed 90% of them.
Each of the more than 100 cases is registered in the Rohini and Outer-North District and both completed 97% of crime.
The CWC-1 seat Meenu Mehta said Pocso cases increased rapidly because children were not aware of the right and safe internet use.
“During pandemics, children have used more cellphones because of online classes and often come into contact with strangers.
They are then wrong direction and captivated with the pretext of love and desire,” he added.
In some cases, CWC observed that while chatting with known people or foreigners, children shared photos or expressed secrets and became victims of extortion.
