New Delhi: The good news is that liquor will soon be available in new stores.
Bad news? Prices tend to rise up to 9%.
The Delhi Government Excise Ministry is in the process of improving the maximum retail price of the brand and this will be calculated in accordance with the formula under the new excise policy.
Liquor traders, related to alcohol seller associations, said the increase in wholesale prices would cause a 5-10% increase in retail prices.
However, an Excise Ministry official confirms that retail prices may not increase due to market competition and discounts that can be given stores to attract customers.
Personal alcohol stores will begin to function under the excise policy of 2021-22 from November 17 when all existing government liquor stores will be closed permanently.
In new policy, the Delhi government has destroyed customs and VAT in license fees and only imposed nominal excise duties and VAT of 1% at the landing price, according to orders issued by the Excise Ministry on Thursday.
An excise official said that the impact on wholesale prices due to the combination of central sales taxes was 2%, profit margins for wholesalers, import pass costs and shipping and handling fees, as agreed in excise policy, will lead to 8- changes in price 9%.
As many as 849 oral will be permitted in all cities by private entities.

“It is important that consumers should not be burdened with price increases,” Excise orders.
“Changes brought in new excise policies will take a reasonable time to play on the market.
In the interests of the overall consumers of Delhi, to prevent the smuggling of Interstate, MRP for 2021-22 as far as possible in the same range as applicable in Delhi.” The Excise Ministry will be Improving the MRP for each product after taking into account the input licenses and product prices in neighboring Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Rajasthan.
The MRP applicable in Delhi has compared to neighboring countries and is seen in general lower.
