Delhi Zoo to be reopened from August 1, allow 3K visitors per day

New Delhi: Delhi Zoo is set to reopen from August 1.
Only online bookings will be permitted at first maintaining Covid-19 norms.
“Preparation for opening a zoo from August 1 and so on.
The zoo will operate in two shifts as before and online bookings will be opened from July 31,” said Ramesh Pandey, director of the zoo.
Only 1,500 slots will be available per shift.
While the morning shift will function from 8am to 12 noon, there will be a break one hour from 12 noon to 1 noon, when the zoo will be disintegrated and disinfected.
The afternoon shift will start at 1pm and end at 5pm, officials said.
While the zoo opened on April 1 this year, it must be closed only two weeks later because of the second 19-19 wave.
Before that, the zoo struggled with bird flu for more than three months.
The first positive case was detected at the zoo place in January 2021.
After two consecutive bird droppings were tested negatively in March, the zoo could focus on the reopening process.
Zoo officials say visitors will remember Covid guidelines, including keeping their masks while inside.
Before the last lock, the zoo has added a number of new species of birds and animals, taking the number of new species from 83 to 88.
At present it has more than 90 species with plans to add dhole, which is a dog asiatic, a bear, lion with hippo rewards and two tigress.
“Talks develop well with other zoos and we have used this period to add more animals.
We might soon see some new additions to the zoo.
Our aim is to add 100 species at the end of the year,” added Pandey.
