New Delhi: Delhiites will now be able to easily change their names or date of birth to their SIM but also do it from the comfort of their home.
The Delhi government transportation department has issued orders with standard operating procedures for name change, date of birth and correction in student and permanent drive licenses, along with the list of documents needed to change this detail.
“Given the public demand, the transportation department has decided to provide the option to correct the name and date of birth in the license for the driver’s driving holder.
Immediately all license holders will be able to apply to improve their names and date of birth in the license through the documents written in the documents Order, “Transport Minister Delhi Kailash Gahlot Tweeted on Wednesday.
The source in the department said that applicants do not need to visit the regional transportation office (RTO) to get this change and software for this transaction will live from next week.
After the required document is submitted, the new license will be sent to their address by courier.
The documents needed for correction date of birth in the license are aadhaar cards, certificates of class 10 or 12, passport copies if available and birth certificates.
For changes in names, applicants must send aadhaar cards, copies of passport if available, Gazette notifications, copies of advertisements in national newspapers or newspapers with Delhi edition and a written statement proven by judicial judge class one or public notary.
For women applicants who want to get their names changed in their SIM, regardless of the documents mentioned, Marriage Deed or Return, Divorce Decree or Couple Death Certificate will also be needed.
Officials said that many women wanted to get their names changed on SIM after marriage.
