Delhi’s highest total monsoon log in 57 years at 1.161mm

New Delhi: Light shower recorded in several parts of the capital on Thursday.
Safdarjung, the base station for Delhi, received another 12.6mm rainfall between 8:30 a.m.
and 5.30 in the afternoon, which took the total monsoon to 1,160.8mm so far.
It is now the third highest total rainy season recorded and the highest since 1964, according to Indian Meteorology (IMD) data, beat the 1975 record of 1,155.6mm rainfall during the season.
In the rainy season in 1964, Delhi has received 1,190.9mm.
The rainfall record of all time for the season for Safdarjung was 1,420.3mm, which was witnessed in 1933.
Rain Thursday also meant Delhi crossed a 400mm sign for September rainfall, with 404.4mm which was recorded at 5:30 a.m.
on Thursday.
It is now only about 13mm from September records of 417.3mm, which was recorded in 1944.
Instead, capital only received 404.3mm rainfall during the rainy season throughout the 2019 season.
Total Monsun last year was 576.6mm.
The IMD has estimated the rain to continue this week, with a light shower to moderately expected on Friday.
“Activities can be reduced during the weekend, however, it will be resumed from next Monday and the shower to moderate is estimated to be Monday to Wednesday again.
This means that stable rain will continue above Delhi during this period,” said an official.
RK Jenamani, scientist at the IMD, said that the current conditions are not profitable for the withdrawal of monsoons from northwest India to September 29, however, the situation can change depending on weather conditions.
“Delhi-NCR will continue to receive good rain,” said Jenamani.
The capital records a maximum of 28 degrees Celsius on Thursday – six degrees below normal temperatures.
The moisture is relatively oscillating between 88 and 98 percent.
Similar conditions are expected on Friday.
“Light shower to moderate once again will occur throughout the city.
There is a possibility that the September record will be damaged on Friday,” an official said.
Meanwhile, Delhi’s air quality remains in the ‘satisfying’ category on Thursday.
It is expected to remain in the same category for the next few days.
Rain triggers airlogging, rainy rainy rain in several parts of the city, followed by drizzle for the rest of Thursday, causing airlogging and triggering traffic growls in different places.
While the door underpass Pul Prahladpur and both nangloi kites were closed, civilian bodies reported the incidence of a tree decline and puddles on the internal road.
PWD and Civic officials said, the water flooded included Mehrauli-Badarpur (MB) Road, Anand Parbat, Zakhiri Underpass, Mundka, Uttam Nagar, Rohtak Road, Sangam Vihar, Dabri, Krishna Nagar, Madli and Kirari.
South Korporas reported waterlogging in Mahavir Enclave Part-1, Taman Beri Wala and Bindapur.
There are reports of fallen trees from Dairand Colony in Lajpat Nagar, Safdarjung Enclave, Humayunpur and Shivalik near Malviya Nagar.
“We directed our staff to remove fallen trees,” said an official.
A PWD official said compared to the previous days, AirLogging complaints were less on Thursday.
