New Delhi: Lokalitas Jangpura which is rather quiet and upscale now finds itself on a high-speed Rapid Rapid (RRT) Transit System corridor map that will connect national capital by Meerut.
The 82km-long corridor, which is planned to end in Sarai Kale Khan, will now be extended to the South Delhi neighborhood.
“New Station, Jangpura, has been added in the RRTs corridor under the construction of Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut,” said a spokesman for the National Capital Region of Transport Corporation (NCRTC), who carried out the project.
“With the addition of this station, the station count on this corridor is now 25.
The new station is being built with a stabling page that has been planned in Jangpura,” he said.
“We will build stable traffic-cum-train maintenance facilities in Jangpura for all three phase-i corridors from RRTS, and it is a very strategic decision to build a RRTS station at this location too, which will serve residents.
From the closest location, provide it with high-speed smooth connectivity throughout the NCR, “Vinay Kumar Singh, the NCRTC implementing director, said.
“Jangpura is one of the nodes identified to be taken for transit development oriented.
We are working on a comprehensive plan to provide unlimited access to the RRTs station,” he said.
While the center of the three corridors will be at Sarai Kale Khan, which will be the Mega terminal, Jangpura will also have a master operation control center, from which the train in all corridors will be monitored and controlled.
The new station will connect Sarai Kale Khan with residential areas such as Ashram, Nizamuddin, Srinivascuri, Lajpat Nagar, etc.
With further connectivity to Ghaziabad and Meerut, apart from Panipat, Gurgaon, Manesar, Dhipherbera, etc.
When two other corridors become operational.
NCRTC spokesman said that like all other RRT stations, Jangpura will also display universal accessibility for easy access to passengers and will have provisions to handle medical emergencies as well.
It is separate from facilities such as pick-up and drop-off zones, audio parking and passenger video boards, station maps, ticket vending machines, retail stores, ATMs, etc.
“The station will be developed to reach the highest rank of the Indian Green Building Board (IGBC).
As part of this effort, the solar panel will be installed on the roof of the station.
LED lights and other facilities will be provided to save energy,” he said.
NCRTC requires space where the train for its first morning service can be disabled for the night, but adequate land is not available at Sarai Kale Khan.
The closest government land available is in Jangpura, where NCRTC chooses to create a stable page.
“After operations, the RRT will experience Delhi’s decongest by facilitating non-Delhi NCR residents to live in their home city while conveniently traveling every day to the capital for the work / education,” Singh said.
