New Delhi: A 21-year-old man was arrested for allegedly harassing his cousin’s wife on social media for personal disputes, Delhi police said on Saturday.
The defendant had been identified as Hiten, a resident of Jagat Perna, they said.
Complaints were received from a woman who alleged that she was followed by someone for six to eight months through her Instagram account and used her photo downloaded from social media, a senior police officer said.
Users have also changed the photos with vulgar photos and shared with the woman to pollute it socially.
The complainant said a similar message was also forwarded to her husband’s friends because he was in a mental trauma, the officer said.
During the investigation, the account details are sought from Instagram.
On the basis of IP addresses, the location of the numbers focused on.
Then, the police arrested Hiten on Friday, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northeast) Sanjay Kumar Science said.
The cellphone used in the crime was also confiscated from his ownership, police said.
Hiten revealed that the complainant was his cousin’s wife and he experienced some problems with him.
There are also disputes between families on some properties.
To harass and harass it socially, it creates a fake Instagram account, added the police.
