New Delhi: Fighting against the ‘Delta’ variant of Coronavirus requires a vaccine, plus infection prevention and control strategies, even in the population with high inoculation, new research findings have revealed.
Studies conducted in two Delhi Hospital found that even though vaccination prevented the severity of viral attacks, there was a case of breakthrough infection, and that there was also a possible risk of subsequent transmission for potentially vulnerable people.
This study was conducted by researchers from the Consortium Insacog, CSIR and the National Center for Disease Control.
The researchers analyzed data on 113 breakthrough infections among health workers by “building the possibility of transmission networks from the epidemiological genome order data and virus using the computational approach suite”.
Among the known cases we identify high probabilities that doubled individuals transmitted SARS-COV-2, and potential cases of viral transmission between individuals who have received two vaccine doses, pre-print study words.
