Mumbai: In the midst of scare caused by the omicron variant of Coronavirus, a senior official of the Maharashtra Health Department said that Delta’s tensions from viruses still contributed the maximum number of cases of infection in the state as revealed by the sequencing of the genome from the patient’s sample.
Dr.

The Delta variant has brought havoc during the second wave of pandemic last year.
The Omicron strain, which was first detected in South Africa in November 2021, began to spread in India from the first week of December.
Until Friday night, Maharashtra has reported 1,605 cases of omicron, while the overall Covid-19 infection has soared to 71.24,278.
“Since November 1 last year, a sample of 4,265 Covid-19 patients was sent to the genome sequencing.
The results of 4.201 cases have been issued, which shows that the omicron variant is detected in 1,367 cases or in 32 percent, while the prevalence of Delta variants is found in the remaining 68 percent of cases, “Dr.
Vyas said in the letter.
It also said that of 2,40,133 cases of active coronavirus in Maharashtra until Wednesday (January 12), 90 percent of patients were in house isolation or in covid care centers.

From patients treated in this hospital, 16,175 or 74.2 percent have mild symptoms and 5.608 of them or 2.3 percent are needed oxygen or oxygen support.
Only 700 patients, which is around 0.29 percent of the total active cases, are in the ventilator, he said.
