Mumbai: In the midst of scare caused by the omicron variant of Coronavirus, a senior official of the Maharashtra Health Department said that Delta’s tensions from viruses still contributed the maximum number of cases of infection in the state as revealed by the sequencing of the genome from the patient’s sample.

Pradeep Vyas, the Head of the Ministry of Health’s additional school, in a letter written by his colleagues on Wednesday said that the Delta variant was found in a sample of 68 percent, from more than 4,200 analyzed, while the remaining 32 percent of patients were found infected with omicron tensions.
The Delta variant has brought havoc during the second wave of pandemic last year.
The Omicron strain, which was first detected in South Africa in November 2021, began to spread in India from the first week of December.
Until Friday night, Maharashtra has reported 1,605 cases of omicron, while the overall Covid-19 infection has soared to 71.24,278.
“Since November 1 last year, a sample of 4,265 Covid-19 patients was sent to the genome sequencing.
The results of 4.201 cases have been issued, which shows that the omicron variant is detected in 1,367 cases or in 32 percent, while the prevalence of Delta variants is found in the remaining 68 percent of cases, “Dr.
Vyas said in the letter.
It also said that of 2,40,133 cases of active coronavirus in Maharashtra until Wednesday (January 12), 90 percent of patients were in house isolation or in covid care centers.
“We have seen three weeks from the current surge in Covid-19 infection.
Until January 12, there are 2,40,133 cases of Active Covid-19, which is 90.9 percent is in a house isolation or in the Covid Care Center.
Only 21,783 patients or 9 , 1 percent of the total active case in the hospital, “said the letter.
From patients treated in this hospital, 16,175 or 74.2 percent have mild symptoms and 5.608 of them or 2.3 percent are needed oxygen or oxygen support.
Only 700 patients, which is around 0.29 percent of the total active cases, are in the ventilator, he said.
The official also stated that the current surge was mainly limited to cities and regions such as Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Palghar Pune and Nagpur, which relatively had better anti-Koronavirus vaccination coverage.
He asked his colleagues that this observation must be considered when preparing to overcome the current surge, he said.
