Ahmedabad: Covid-19 patient samples from Ahmedabad in Gujarat sent for genome sequencing to the laboratory at Pune in Maharashtra and September were found infected with the two variants of ‘Delta’ and ‘Kappa’, said an official here on Sunday.
Of the two samples sent to the Pune Laboratory in August, each each was detected with a Delta variant and Kappa from Coronavirus, while one sample sent in September had a Delta variant, said Dr.

“The results awaited for covid-19 patient samples were sent for genome sequencing in October to the National Virology Institute in Pune.
There are no samples sent in November so far,” he added.
The Delta variant was first detected in India in October last year, and continued to be the main variant of a concern, which also played a major role in the second wave of pulping pulping in April-May this year, while Kappa was a variant of interest and relatively moderate.
