Delta Still Driving 30% Covid Case New in Odisha: Expert

Bhubaneswar: Delta variant from Covid-19 still contributed 25% -30% of new infections in the state even though they saw a sudden leap at everyday mortality rates.
The state government confirmed 15 more Covid-19 deaths on Saturday.
Health officials said the omisure kit, which was being used in five cities, showed the presence of 70% -75% of Omicron variants during testing.
“The omicron variant fluctuates between 70% and 75% every day.
I think in 15 days or three more weeks, Omicron will fully replace Delta.
This replaces faster because of its transmission, especially in urban areas,” said Ajay Parida, Director, Institute of Life Sciences (ILS).
Compared to daily fall in new cases, death in the trend of increases, which has become a cause of concern.
However, health authorities confirm that all Covid-19 deaths, are now reported, caused by extreme comorbid conditions such as the final kidney failure, liver damage, cancer, uncontrolled coronary artery, thyroid and diabetes.
“Daily death rates may rise because we have more than 500 patients in the ICU, while 76 is in the support of the ventilator.
The figure of the death of Saturday (15) was reported from the suffering of the death audit, which meant it did not reflect the deaths on the day shown,” said Bijay Mohapatra, Director, Health Services.
“The severity is being manifested in patients who have a Delta variant infection.
Omicron, so far, has proven to be a less deadly variant,” he added.
The state added 4,842 new cases, taking a cumulative infection to 12,41,068 and recovered to 11,73,907.
Now the country has 48,266 active cases with 10,267 new recovery recorded on Saturday.
The capital reported 876 new cases, taking active cases to 11,860 because 754 patients recovered.
The test level of test (TPR) from the country has dropped to 7.58 percent.
Meanwhile, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Saturday canceled the Annual Khandagiri Exhibition for the second year in a row considering the situation of the pandemic.
“Because a big meeting is being avoided to check the spread of the virus, we have decided to suspend this year’s exhibition too,” said the additional commissioner of BMC Laxmikant Setyhi.
