Delta variant behind 75.67% of the Covid PB case on Des. Jan

Chandigarh: Omicron which is highly transpacting (B.1.1.1.529) spread rapidly in this country, but the Delta line (B.1.617.2) from Coronavirus continues to be a variant that dominates the attention in Punjab, as of 75.67% for 75 , 67% however, the total sample was tested between December 1 and January 10.
However, given the speed of the omicron variant spread, experts have warned that it will soon follow the Delta variant which has triggered a wave of the feared second infection.
Alpha is the most commonly found variant in the state which was later replaced by Delta.

Of the 333 samples of genome sequencing examined at the Center for National Center (NCDC) in Delhi and the Medical College Government, Patiala, between December 1 and January 10, Delta was detected in 252 samples, which contributed 75.67% of the total sample, while 61 samples Positively tested for the variant of Omicron’s worries which was first detected in South Africa.
According to the stipulated guidelines, samples that have a threshold value of less than 25 cycles are accepted for genome sequencing while the rest is rejected.
The CT value refers to the number of cycles after that the virus can be detected.
Punjab Covid-19 Nodal Officer Dr.
Rajesh Bhaskar warns that the more transmitted omicron variants from Coronavirus are likely to replace Delta for the coming weeks and urge people to follow the appropriate and vaccinated Covid behavior.
“Prevention is the key to keeping the virus in the bay,” he added.
Although there is a steep increase in the number of cases of everyday, bed residence remains low at this time because most people are infected asymptomatic or have mild symptoms that do not require hospitalization.
The percentage of active cases that require hospitalization is slightly more than 2% in the state.
Only 31 patients – 23 oxygen and 3 critical care – from 1,041 active cases needed inpatient on January 1 while on January 10, as many as 401, 2.06% from 19,379 active cases, of which 304 were on oxygen support, 85 treated at the facility Critical care and 12 on ventilator support.
There are around 13,000 Level III beds in a state of 9,638 equipped with oxygen, an intensive care unit of 1,603 (ICU) without ventilators and 1,415 ICU beds with ventilators.
