PANAJI: The Institute of Energy and Resources (Teri) said that power demand in Goa has increased steadily over the past six years, and is expected to multiply over the coming decade and half.

The Institute added that despite reaching 100% electrification, various challenges continued to inhibit the efforts of state in ensuring supply of 24×7 for all citizens.

Teri also identifies strategies to ensure reliable power supply, which includes the spread of Smart Grid technology for load management and peak extermination, promotion of consumer side demand management interventions, increasing transmission and distribution networks, and increases local generation through renewable energy sources.
