Demand for plans to suit local needs

Mangaluru: Tannirbhavi City Beach is one of the two beaches in this country, which has been chosen for the blue flag certification this year.
In this connection, a public consultation meeting was held at the Office of Deputy Commissioner on Tuesday.
Former Baiikampady CEO, Panambur Tourism Development Project, said that there was a lesson to learn from the beach of the Biru Padubidri flag.
“The same mistake must not be repeated here.
The design and implementation of the project must be in accordance with the local conditions.
We cannot have the same plan for all 100 beaches in India.
Every beach is unique.
Public consultation should be done before inviting tenders.
The locals must be Part of the coastal management committee, “he said.
Write a few questions, he said, “We have seen how vegetation is destroyed in Padubidri.
Do we need to build a jogging trail for tourists who will love to walk on the sand? How many international tourists have the beach of the Padubidri blue flag that can be drawn? This is a fraud.
Access to the beach for locals should not be deducted, and even the uniform determined for staff does not match local conditions, “Yathish said.
Meanwhile, representatives of MoGavera Sabha Boloor expressed interest in managing the coast, but said that international certification should not affect fishing activities.
Komisarisputy KV Rajendra said that this was one of the district ambitious projects, which would bring international recognition.
“Some objections raised reasonable, but cannot be handled at the district level.
We will convey the same thing to officials.
We will advance with plans, and tenders have been invited to the development of a one kilometer stretch in Tannirbhavi, at an estimated cost of Rs 8 Crore .
Work order will be provided in the next month.
Depending on the results of this project, we will think of proposing a second stretch for blue flag certification, “he said.
DCF Dakshina Kannada Dinesh Kumar YK, said that the government was pursuing the sustainable development of coastal areas, starting a very well-known and reliable program, the beach environment and aesthetic management (beam) under the coastal coastal management project (ICZM) integrated.
It was launched by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), through the Integrated Coastal Management Community (Sicom).
Commissioner MCC Akshy Sridhar and officials from the Department of Tourism, Crz and Fisheries.
