Ballari: Kalyana Karnataka Region is underdeveloped in terms of medical facilities, especially those related to children’s health care.
People from Ballari and the surrounding districts included in Andhra Pradesh depend on the Vijayanagara Institute of Medical Sciences (VIRA) in Ballari to make their children treated.
In the past few days, there have been Spurt in children who suffer from viral fever and VIMS struggling to accommodate all.
It has triggered a request for a separate institute for child health for Ballari.
VIMS only has 130 pediatric beds, but now more than 300 patients are accepted here.
In addition, because VIMS is a tertiary care center, most of the sick babies are called here from Ballari, Vijayanagara, Koppal, Raichur, Chitradurga and Andhra Pradesh.
Most patients who come here come from under the poverty line.
The Ballari District Hospital does not have an adequate bed for children and many patients are forced to wait on the trail during each season of viral infections.
Therefore, people said there was an urgent need for a separate child health institute in Ballari.
Dr.
H Durgappa, HOD, the Pediatric Department in VIMS said the Institute only had 130 beds including 14 ICUS, 8 HDUs and 90 public beds in Pediatric Ward.
“We also have 60 neonatal Icus for newborns.
But the patient loading is almost three times our capacity with 300 patients and 150 newborns today in VIMS.
We have made temporary arrangements in new dental colleges for children.
We Find difficulties in accommodating children and provide quality services to patients, “he added.
To provide quality medical services to children, Kalyana Karnataka needs 400 children’s health beds in Ballari, he said.
“The Institute will help save many lives not only from Ballari, but also all the North Karnataka,” he added.
“The Ballari district has received many mining compensation funds this year.
The state must order at least Rs 100 Crore to establish the Institute of Child Health in Ballari and start this project without delay,” urging the leader of the Nimbagal Ramakrishna congress.
