PANAJI: The Ministry of Tourism has begun demarcation of huts on the coast in South Goa for Allottes who have paid their license fees.
This intends to complete the demarcation process on all beaches in both districts a week.
“We don’t want delays in our part and will complete the earliest process,” said a tourism official.
The government recently announced a 50% reduction in a license fee for huts because of the Covid-19 pandemic situation.
Close to 350 huts arranged every season.
The license issued is even though for three years, and Allastee cannot regulate their huts except the area is intended by the Department of Tourism.
Allotment is done once in three years according to the coastal policy of the coast, and the entire process can be detained if anyone approaches the court that has denied the rationing process.
While tourism officials say the department intends to complete the demarcation immediately, there may be delays on several beaches due to sand erosion and where the coast has not been restored naturally.
With rainfall activities, the shack operator tends to wait for a week before starting to install the hut, because bad weather can damage the material used.
Pradeep Chodankar, a hut operator from North Goa, said that even though the domestic foot point was high, he would start a business in the first week of October and after his area in Arambol was limited.
“Calangute beaches, Candolim and Baga stretches the highest footsteps.
Tourists also visit Morjim and Arambol, but the amount is lower.
In addition, the rain hasn’t stopped.
There’s no point in managing an empty hut when the last two seasons are Dud,” Chodankar said.
Even though the shack operator was worried about the new season because of the pandemic, most would arrange their hut this time.
Because this is the third and final year of their shack’s license validity, most want to get income to redeem losses from the previous two seasons.
The government is expected to introduce new hut policies during the next season and improve the validity period of the License Shack.
