Democrats of the US Senate to reveal Russian sanctions bills

WASHINGTON: Democrats of the US Senate on Wednesday will reveal the bill which will impose sweeping sanctions above the Russian government and military officials, including President Vladimir Putin, and banking key institutions if Moscow is involved in hostility against Ukraine, said Senator Robert Menendez.
The proposed law includes the provisions to help improve the security of Ukraine and encourage the United States to “consider all available and appropriate steps” to ensure Russian-to-German Nord Stream 2 Pipeline – the influence of the Russian Federation “- does not become operational.” This legislation is really clear that the US Senate will not stand still when the Kremlin threatens the re-invasion of Ukraine, “Menendez, Democratic Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said in a statement.
Menendez will introduce bills on Wednesday.
Russia has collected around 100,000 soldiers On the Ukrainian and Washington borders trying to block Moscow for attacking the country.
The bill, first reported by the Washington Post, will also target companies in Russia that offer a safe messaging system, such as Swift, which Banks used to exchange key information with other financial institutions.
Almost two dozen Democrats Senate, Therma Suk the majority leader of Chuck Schumer, has supported the bill, spokesman for Menlangez.
A spokesman for the National Security Council told Washington Post that the White House supports Menendez’s bill, which will “trigger severe costs for the Russian economy” if Russia advances with the invasion.
Other bills sponsored by the Republican Senator Ted Cruz, will “not fight further Russian aggression or protect Ukraine,” said the spokesman.
Cruz crashed into an agreement with Schumer last month, where Senator Texas released his date on dozens of nominations of President Joe Biden’s ambassador.
Cruz bills will be chosen this week, but need 60 votes to pass, high obstacles in the Senate which is divided evenly.
Menendez’s bill provides an alternative for Democrats who support sanctions on Nord Stream 2 $ 11 billion pipes, which are finished but awaiting approval from Germany, and makes it more difficult for the Cruz Bill to graduate.
Many Democrats have supported sanctions on pipes because they will bypass Ukraine, seizing the cost of transit of the country.
The Cruz Bill will slap sanctions on the pipeline within 15 days after the passage, regardless of whether Russia peeks Ukraine, and will allow Congress to choose to restore sanctions to them.
Pipes, which are supported by the Gazprom Russian gas company, will provide fuel to Germany, the largest economy in Europe, which turns off coal and nuclear plants, as well as other major countries.
Some democratic senators said on Monday night, after meeting with Biden administrative officials, that they believed in the sanction of Cruz in Nord Stream 2 could endanger relations with Germany.
