Bhubaneswar: The number of cases of dengue fever in state capital has increased on the day despite the great awareness and sanitation drive by Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC).
It has reported about 50 cases a day, on average, since last week.
It has taken total infections to more than 1500 on Thursday.
The total number of cases was 1,162 on August 13.
More than 340 cases have been added in the last seven days.
A total of 1,036 people recovered from dengue fever until Wednesday.
BMC, along with the Ministry of Health team, has taken many steps to control the situation in areas under its jurisdiction.
So far, the Civic body has visited around 20,300 households as part of drive awareness and destroys more than 52,400 sources of mosquito breeding.
A Public Health Officer said, “Aedes Aegypti mosquitoes, which cause dengue fever, can breed in clean water.
That is why we have advised people not to allow their homes or surrounding areas to turn out to be a reason for breeding mosquitoes unconsciously.
The cans were thrown away , the plastic bottle that is not exposed, coconut shell, and other open containers can store rain water that turns into a profitable breeding land for these mosquitoes.
This must be immediately destroyed.
