Nagpur: Two children and a middle-aged woman have died, while 98 cases of new dengue fever were detected from 149 samples from all cities by the Department of Malaria and Filaia Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) in June.
More than 100 positive cases were reported in all 2020.
Until May 7, the city only recorded six cases this year.
Tita has now passed 150 in just one month due to a June surge.
Among 98 new cases, 42 fell in the age group of 0-24 years.
The deceased included a seven-month-old boy from Satranjipura, a nine-year-old girl from Dharampeth and 36 years old from the Hanuman Nagar zone.
The NMC Medical Committee will investigate the history of patients who have died to ascertain whether they have comorbidities before confirming them as bloody death.
Serum samples from the three have been positively tested in the Elisa NS-i test.
NMC Malaria and Filaia Officials Dipali Nasare, together with his team, visiting died homes and other patients and found large mosquito breeding spots, especially in the cooler and the surrounding area.
Nasare said the 36-year-old child came from the slums of Rahat Nagar who was famous for fermentation of liquor.
Many drums intended to store water are sources of mosquito breeding.
Construction work also occurred at the deceased’s house, he said.
NASARE added that as a private hospital preferred rapid tests for dengue fever, the department treats all reported cases as suspected until they were confirmed through the more reliable NS-I Elisa test at the NMC expensive diagnostic center.
Regarding a surge, he said, “Our survey found the cooler not dried every week.
We repeatedly asked people to clean the cooler and their storage tank where Aedes Aegypti, is generally known as dengue mosquitoes, breeds.
The dumped items also cause obstacles in step Preventive steps.
“He said people need to make similar efforts as they have done for prevention of Covid-19.
The prevalence of dengue fever fell half compared to last year, until May the first week.
The city only recorded six positive cases for diseases transmitted through vectors from 30 samples between January and May 7.
The highest number of suspects (16) were reported to the NMC Department of Malaria and Filaia in May.
Of these, only 14 were tested positively.
There was no positive case recorded in April, when Covid was a peak.
In 2018 and 2019, the NMC has slapped notifications and recovered from schools, hospitals and other commercial places after the spots of mosquito breeding were found in their place.
The department runs shortly because the staff has been deployed for covid tasks and routine surveys that are mostly affected.
