However, the death of dengue fever has declined from seven years 2015 to only 1 in 2018.
There were no deaths reported in 2019, while two people died of the disease transmitted by vectors last year.
When cases of dengue fever have witnessed an increase, health officials said it was the cause of worries, but the steps were taken to check the spread.
Civil Surgeon Dr.
Kiran Ahluwalia said they had implemented a plan to check the cases of dengue.
He said besides the city corporation, the Ministry of Health has formed 18 teams of each of the two members, including the assistant of the Malaria (AMO) officer, to check the spread of the disease transmitted through vectors.
A health worker who asked not to be named said even though the team visited various regions to examine mosquito breeding, Ludhiana Municipal Corporation had an important role to play by ensuring fogging in various regions.
Meanwhile, residents complained that fogging had not been carried out by the department concerned in their area.
“I haven’t seen a team that comes to our area for fogging this year.
The department concerned must do fogging regularly, so people don’t fall prey with dengue fever, malaria etc.,” said Kulwant Singh from Dugri.
