Gurgaon: The State Forest Department on Tuesday refused to approve the MCG proposal to create ‘Oxy-Forest’ 100 hectares in Chakkarpur.
In a letter to the MCG Commissioner, said the Civic’s body decision to provide land to real estate companies will determine the precedent for all Aravali landscapes and pose a threat to ecological balance.
The section of the proposed land to be developed by MCG is covered under the Amites of the Forest Conservation Act.
“A Developer has tried to modify the land field to increase the economic value of the adjacent colony.
The area already has solid vegetation and presents its full potential as ‘oxy-van’.
Therefore, the proposal seems to be a colored exercise supported by jargon.
Ministry of Forestry It does not tend to approve it because it will have a greater implication for Aravalis, “said Vasavi Tyagi, head of forest conservator, Haryana Selatan.
Environmental lovers also opposed the MCG proposal, said the land intended was a thick forest area with the crown density of almost 80%, which consisted of Aravali thorns and bush species.
The area, they added, acted as an urban ‘cooler’ and contributed to the charging of ground water.
“The MCG plan is invalid because the area has become a forest.
It is not clear why he wants to remove the forest to create another,” said Environmental Activist Vivek Camboup.
On June 5, the state government has set a target to plant three numpring trees this year and to develop two regions in each district into ‘Oxy-Forest’ forest.
The growth of each factory will be monitored through geographical marking.
These forests will occupy 10% of the 8 lakh hectares of land in Haryana.
MCG has been looking for the Ministry of Forestry permission on June 25 but the latter has caused serious objections, indicating that the proposal amounted to the ‘un-forest’ forest and the project would destroy the cover of the regional natural forest, besides disrupting wildlife.
