Deposit in Jan Dhan Accounts Cross RS 1.5 Lakh Crore

New Delhi: Deposits in a bank account opened under Jan Dhan’s scheme, launched by about seven and a half years ago by the government, has crossed the crore sign of Rs 1.5 Lakh.
In accordance with the latest Ministry of Finance data, the total balance above 44.23 Crore Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) is Rs 1,50,939.36 Crore at the end of December, 2021.
PMJDY, a national mission of financial inclusion, has completed seven years of implementation in the month August last year.
It was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his independence day address on August 15, 2014.
According to the Ministry of Finance data, of a total of 44.23 Crore accounts, 34.9 crore with public sector banks, 8.05 crore with regional BPRs, and the remaining 1 , 28 crore with private sector banks.
Also, 31.28 PMJDY Crore receivers were issued by Rupay Debit Cards.
It can be noted that the number of rupiah cards and its use has increased from time to time.
In accordance with data, 29.54 Jan Dhan’s Crore Account was held in rural and semi-urban bank branches.
Nearly 24.61 Crore account holders were women on December 29, 2021.
During the first year of the 17.90 scheme of the PMJDY Crore account opened.
According to the Bank of India’s reserve guidelines (RBI), there are no requirements to maintain the minimum balance in the Basic Account of Bank Savings (BSBD), including Jan Dhan’s account.
Depending on transactions carried out by Jan Dhan account holders, balances on Jan Dhan’s account can vary every day, and may even be zero on certain days.
On December 8, 2021, the total number of zero balance accounts was 3.65 crore, which was around 8.3 percent of the total Jan Dhan account, the government had told the parliament last month.
The aim of the government’s superior scheme includes ensuring access to products and financial services at affordable costs.
Benefits such as scholarships, subsidies, pensions, and Covid assistance funds are credited to bank accounts, including Jan Dhan’s account, through direct benefit transfers (DBT).
